MSL

A huge thank you to MSL @literacywithmsl for leading an amazing session on the Orton-Gillingham (OG) Approach! 🌟 This training was a game-changer for the ReadAble team, giving us the tools to teach more effectively while deepening our understanding of how languages are learned.
Some of our key takeaways:
  • Auditory Processing Skills: We learned how essential it is to strengthen listening skills, especially when it comes to following instructions. It’s all about helping learners tune into the details.
  • Multisensory Learning: Teaching through touch, movement, sight, and sound makes lessons stick – and keeps kids engaged!
  • Age-Appropriate Learning: Tailoring lessons to match the developmental stage of each learner ensures they’re always challenged, but never overwhelmed.
As this approach was developed for dyslexic learners, it helped us to dive into the core principles of literacy – the very building blocks of communication – to strengthen our skills as educators.
Whether we’re working with neurotypical or neurodivergent kids, we’re now even more excited to make learning fun with rhyming, alliteration, blending, segmenting… and making up silly words! 😄📚
